What’s Inside
When we visit the doctor, we have a clear plan. Two things are on our minds: “What’s wrong, and how can I get well?”
Chapter 7
Typically, when we are ill, the symptoms show up before the underlying cause becomes clear. We may experience paralyzing anxiety, out-of-control anger, depression, self-hatred, an unbelieving heart, and other symptoms. We long for peace and comfort. Where does this pain originate? When we visit the doctor, we have a clear plan. Two things are on our minds: “What’s wrong, and how can I get well?” The doctor’s first goal in accurately treating a sick patient is to determine what is causing the unhealthy symptoms. Sometimes the diagnosis is straightforward, while other times tests, x-rays, and scans are necessary. However, the underlying cause of the symptoms must be determined. This is true for our physical bodies as well as our spiritual lives.
